Take a minute to get to know the Providers at Children’s Eye Physicians.

Robert A. King, MD

Dr. King graduated Magna Cum Laude from the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He obtained a Master’s degree in history from Indiana University and his medical degree from the University of Colorado where he was elected to membership in the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. He completed his residency in 1985 at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center and a Pediatric Ophthalmology Fellowship at the Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia. He and Dr. DeSantis established Children’s Eye Physicians in 1993. Dr. King was chosen as one of 5280 Magazine’s ‘Top Docs’ in 1998 and 2005. He has spoken at the National Nurse Practitioner Symposium. Dr. King is a Board Certified Ophthalmologist and is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, the Colorado Ophthalmological Society, the Colorado Medical Society, the Arapahoe-Douglas-Elbert Medical Society and the Denver Medical Society.

Diana M. DeSantis, MD

Dr. DeSantis graduated Magna Cum Laude from Texas Christian University’s Honors Program and was elected to membership in the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. She earned her medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine. After completing her Ophthalmology residency at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, she fulfilled her fellowship training in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Dr. DeSantis is a Board Certified Ophthalmologist and is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, the Colorado Ophthalmological Society, the Colorado Medical Society, the Arapahoe-Douglas-Elbert Medical Society and the Denver Medical Society.

Justin T. Cohen, MD

Dr. Cohen received his undergraduate degree, a Master’s degree in Public Health and a degree in Medicine from the University of Missouri – Columbia. He completed his Ophthalmology residency at the University of Kansas School of Medicine and a Pediatric Ophthalmology fellowship at the Indiana University School of Medicine. After years of practicing in Wichita, Atlanta and Denver, Dr. Cohen joined Children’s Eye Physicians in 2002. Dr. Cohen is a Board Certified Ophthalmologist and is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Colorado Ophthalmological Society, the Colorado Medical Society, the Arapahoe-Douglas-Elbert Medical Society and the Denver Medical Society.

Christopher M. Bardorf, MD

Dr. Bardorf’s undergraduate degree is from Fairfield University. He obtained a Master’s degree in biophysics from Georgetown University and his Medical degree from Creighton University School of Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska. He completed his residency in Ophthalmology at the Kresge Eye Institute in Detroit, Michigan, and a fellowship in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus at Washington University’s St. Louis Children’s Hospital. He joined Children’s Eye Physicians in 2003. Dr. Bardorf is a Board Certified Ophthalmologist and is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Colorado Ophthalmological Society, the Colorado Medical Society, the Arapahoe-Douglas-Elbert Medical Society and Denver Medical Society.

Anna L. Steele, MD

Dr. Steele’s undergraduate degree is from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She obtained her Medical degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine where she was elected into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. She completed her residency in Ophthalmology at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine and a fellowship in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus at the University of Wisconsin. She joined Children’s Eye Physicians in 2005. Dr. Steele is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Colorado Ophthalmological Society, the Colorado Medical Society, the Arapahoe-Douglas-Elbert Medical Society and Denver Medical Society.

Adrienne L. Ruth, MD

Dr. Ruth graduated from Stanford University after receiving the President’s Award for Academic Excellence and being elected to membership in the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. She obtained her medical degree from Harvard University. After completing her ophthalmology residency at Emory University in Atlanta, she fulfilled her fellowship training in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus at the UCLA Jules Stein Eye Institute in Los Angeles. Dr. Ruth is a Board Certified Ophthalmologist and is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus.

Justin H. Arbuckle, MD

Dr. Arbuckle received his undergraduate degree in Global Economics from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.  He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Loyola University in Chicago where he obtained his medical degree and was elected to membership in the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society.  After completing his ophthalmology residency at the Storm Eye Institute at the Medical University of South Carolina, he went on to complete a fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology at Indiana University.  Dr. Arbuckle is a member of the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Adult Strabismus as well as the American Academy of Ophthalmology.

Jean L. DeMoss, OD

Dr. DeMoss’s undergraduate degree is from Davidson College in North Carolina. She obtained her degrees in the Visual Sciences and Optometry from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in Philadelphia where she was inducted into the Beta Sigma Kappa International Optometric Honor Society and the Gold Key International Honor Society. She completed a pediatric residency from The Eye Institute at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in 1999. She is a member of the American Optometric Association, the American Academy of Optometry, the Colorado Optometric Association and the College of Optometrists in Visual Development.

Karen J. Tardy, CO

Karen is Children’s Eye Physicians’ Certified Orthoptist. An orthoptist is a certified allied health professional who works with an ophthalmologist analyzing and treating patients unable to use both of their eyes together. Karen attended the University of Iowa, received her orthoptic training in 1975-76 and became certified in 1976. She joined Children’s Eye Physicians in 1999. Karen is a member of the American Association of Certified Orthoptists. As a valuable member of the medical team, Karen uses non-surgical methods to treat accommodative esotropia (glasses and prisms), exotropia (glasses and patching), amblyopia (patching) and convergence insufficiency (eye muscle exercises and prisms).

-Technicians:Highly trained, informative, child friendly and comprehensive are just a few things that will come to mind after experiencing our technical staff in action!  You can feel confident in the expertise and professionalism that our technicians exude.  As members of our care team, they are eager to aid in the understanding of your child’s diagnosis and treatment plan.

-Patient Account Representatives:In the confusing chaos of insurance companies, it is reassuring to know that there are qualified billing specialists on-site at our office to aid you in the understanding of medical vs. routine vision coverage.  Our helpful billing staff is prepared to answer your questions and assist you with any financial concerns.

-Surgery Coordinator: With compassion and expertise, our surgical scheduler goes above and beyond to ensure that making arrangements for a surgical procedure is stress-free and quick.
PATIENT ADVOCATE: Jennifer Berg

We believe that our patients are our number one priority.  We stand behind this belief with the appointment of a job position that ensures our patients have an outlet to voice their experience after a visit to Children’s Eye Physicians.  Additionally, our patient advocate assists patients and parents with obtaining medical insurance in hardship circumstances.  The caring, empathetic spirit of our patient advocate allows her to aid families who have been given an unexpected or devastating diagnosis in finding support and assistance with external organizations.
