FDA Warns Certain Eye Drops Pose Risk
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is urging eye drop manufacturers to issue recalls for, and consumers to immediately stop using, 26 brands of over-the-counter eye drops that may cause eye infections that could lead to partial vision loss or blindness.

Although the FDA said it has not received any reports of adverse effects, its announcement concerns some of the leading brands of eye drops, including:

  • CVS Health
  • Leader (Cardinal Health)
  • Rugby (Cardinal Health)
  • Rite Aid
  • Target Up&Up
  • Velocity Pharma

The Academy will continue to monitor how the announcement could affect ophthalmic practices and will update members as the story develops.
